About
Learn more about Ambush Muay Thai’s history.
Ambush Muay Thai was founded in 2010 by head coach Elton Wells, a full instructor with Buddhai-Sawan USA. The program is rooted in traditional Muay Thai and also integrates elements of western boxing. Ambush Muay Thai focuses on application in competition, emphasizing solid fundamentals, tactics, and clinch work. Team Ambush values a communal culture and success through hard work, dedication, and consistency.
Buddhai-Sawan USA was founded in 1989 by Arjarn Jason Webster to continue and expand the lineage of teaching authentic Thai fighting arts. Arjarn Jason was a personal student of Krabi-Krabong Grandmaster Ajarn Samai Mesamarn and he became the first non-Thai to be awarded teaching certification in the full system of Krabi-Krabong at Buddhai-Sawan.
The Buddhai-Sawan Sword Fighting Institute was founded and headed by the late Arjarn Samai ("Por Kruh" or "Father teacher"), who taught and propagated the traditional Thai fighting arts of Muay Thai and Krabi-Krabong for decades until his death in the mid-1990s. The institute, located just outside Bangkok, operated for many years and was under royal patronage, literally the king's school.
